ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The Medical Assistant will perform administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of a North Country HealthCare provider, by scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding for insurance purposes.
Other duties will include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing huddle documents and preparing patients for examination.
Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide extraordinary customer service to all internal and external customers (including patients and other North Country team members) at all times.
Record patients' medical history, vital statistics and information such as test results in medical records.
Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean.
Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height.
Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.
Show patients to examination rooms and prepare patients for the medical provider.
Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets and providers' instructions to patients.
Other responsibilities may include:
Help providers examine and treat patients, handing the physician instruments and materials or performing such tasks as giving injections or removing sutures.
Collect laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing.
Ensure accuracy of medications provided to patients.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of medical products, services, standards, policies and procedures.
Skill in operating phones, personal computer, software and other IT systems.
Skill in oral communication (English required, Spanish helpful we pay a differential for Spanish-speaking fluency, as well).
Ability to communicate and work with providers, patients and others in a professional and courteous manner.
Ability to pay close attention to detail and to ensure accuracy of reports and data.
EDUCATION / SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
Graduate from a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program such as AAMA, AMT (RMA), or NCCT.
EHR system experience or exposure.
High School Diploma or GED.
Medical Assistant certification.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
