Biological Science Technician

The duties of the position include but are not limited to:
Conducting biological surveys, observing and recording a wide variety of fish habitat and aquatic conditions, number and variety of fish and other aquatic species Maintaining vehicles and field equipment in a safe operating manner Leading field crews in collection of data in remote locations Computing, compiling, and analyzing data in tabular, graphic, or narrative form Collecting, handling, identifying, tagging, and caring for a variety of endangered, native, and recreational fish Assisting professional biologists by reviewing, cataloging, performing literature reviews, and filing technical publications and material Physical Demands:
Work is often strenuous and conducted in remote locations. Weights carried over rough terrain regularly exceed 50 pounds. Considerable driving, hiking, climbing, rafting, and aircraft transport are required. Camping outdoors for extended periods of time in remote locations will be required. Incumbent must have average to above average dexterity and must be able to function under stress, unexpected interruptions, and delays while trying to accomplish work in coordination with activities of Tribal, state, and federal cooperators. Working Environment:
Work includes both office and outdoor settings. As much as 90% of the work is performed outdoors. The office is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. In the performance of outdoor work, temperature extremes vary from below zero to above 115 F, depending on the season and location. During the summer, the lower body, hands, and arms are not protected from the elements and are exposed for extended periods of time. During winter, the lower body is kept dry with hip boots, waders, or dry/wet suits, but the arms and hands are exposed to water temperatures below 50 F. The incumbent is expected to conduct duties in a safe and orderly manner so as not to endanger self, fellow workers, or property with which entrusted. Only experience and education obtained by the closing date of the announcement will be considered. MINIMUM
Qualifications:
Must have one year specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-4 grade level in the Federal service. Experience must have been related to the work of the position being filled. Specialized experience includes:
entering and analyzing aquatic biological data using various computer programs; collecting aquatic biological data including species, length and mass; operating a variety of equipment; collecting aquatic biological data and identifying native and nonnative/invasive fish species, OR Must have successfully completed a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with courses related to the occupation or at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics. At least 6 semester hours of courses must be directly related to the position being filled, OR Must have a combination of education and experience that is equivalent to a major in a biological science. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours of a course of study leading to a bachelor's degree is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirements. Two full academic years of study, or 60 semester hours, beyond the second year is equivalent to l year of specialized experience. NOTE:

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
